Queensland runs two licence layers: the person on the tools holds an occupational licence, and the business taking the job on holds a contractor licence. Both come from the QBCC, and we hold ours.
The occupational licence
proves the tradesperson is competent in the trade.
The contractor licence
proves the business behind the job is financially sound and trade-trained.
The gas work licence
sits apart again. Queensland reserves installing, altering, testing and certifying a gas system for licensed gasfitters, and we hold that class too.

A gas system compliance certificate
when a new gas installation or alteration wraps up: our gasfitter gives the owner the certificate on the spot and posts a copy to the network operator inside 5 days.
Checking is public. The QBCC keeps licence registers online, and searching your address tells you whether a Form 4 has been lodged for the property. You can also ask your local council to look at the notifiable stage of a job at any point.
